In the past I have always had a weekly calendar on my side board to post the topics for the week- this semester I decided to switch it out for a monthly calendar, so that students can see what we have done and what we will be doing that week- I think it turned out pretty well! My students also have a calendar they are required to keep up with and write major assignments on.
It took me for what felt like forever to get the lines straight! It’s not perfect, but I finally gave in the towel 😉 I cut out my day’s of the week signs that are for sale on my TPT site. The most helpful sign is the moveable ‘Today” sign. I just bought magnetic tape and taped it to the back. (They sell it in the craft section at Walmart for about $4 a roll).
I used washi tape for all of the lines- I am totally obsessed with this stuff by the way! Its great!
My side board is also an important place for other happenings! Our school requires that we post our essential questions and learning outcomes on the board, so I have a section for that, as well as an area for homework.
Another important piece of information on my board is for one of my classroom management techniques- more to come on that in a future post 🙂 {Update: check out my classroom management tool here!}
Here is the calendar after almost a month filled up! There have been a lot of changes to the schedule due to all of the snow that we have gotten pounded with this winter- but this gives you a great example of how I am color coding everything.
- Topics/Notes are in Blue
- Labs are Green
- Birthdays are Orange
- Quizzes/Tests are in Red!
Hope this provides you with a little inspiration!
