Hello! I'm Ashton
Welcome to My StoryIt's your world, go explore it!
Hey, I’m Ashton or AAA for short! I am a 30-something, living in Emerald Isle, NC who is passionate about adventure and helping others to do the same. I work full time as a teacher, but I am also obsessed with sunsets, scuba diving, golden retrievers, craft beer, and all things outdoors!
I was lucky to spent much of my youth traveling thanks to my parent’s. My first trip out of the country I was only 11! However, it wasn’t until a study abroad program teaching science to students in Belize, that I really fell in love with travel! I started to appreciate meeting new people and experiencing different cultures like I hadn’t before, and I’ve been traveling as much as I can ever since!
Growing up Raleigh, NC, I moved to the beach as fast as I could! I couldn’t imagine living my life anywhere else! That’s where I met my husband, John! We dated for almost ten years before getting married in 2017! We’re both huge sports fans; we love the Carolina Hurricanes but are divided on pretty much every other sport! Together we have two golden retrievers that we take on as many of our adventures as possible and we’ve become pretty good at traveling with dogs. We also welcomed our son in 2022 and we’re so excited to take him to explore the world!
In the spirit of building the life we love, John and I purchased my “family” home that I spent the summers growing up in. My grandpa built it in 1982, then my dad purchased it and used it as a beach rental, and we’ve spent years making it into our own home. I originally started this blog to document our adventures in home renovation, but over the years, it has morphed into sharing everything about my real passion, which is travel!
To me, travel means going on a new adventure, meeting new people, and learning from their experiences. Whether that means exploring my own backyard in Coastal, North Carolina or a new country, I’m always down for a new experience! I hope I can help you find inspiration to plan your next adventure here, and it truly means the world to me to have you follow along!
