Progress has been mucccccch slower than we anticipated on the house. We are getting ready to enter October and we’ve been living with my mom now for two months! We lived in the renovation long enough that one day I got so fed up we decided it was time to really start some demolition and move in with her!

It’s really exciting to see our plan start to come together and begin making major decisions about layout! Lets take a look at our current reality:

First thing was removing that nasty carpet! When we removed the carpet we learned that we had some soft spots in the subfloor and that both of the sliding glass doors in the great room would have to be replaced due to leaking.

We have demoed the guest bath to fix the mold problem (watching your man tear down sheetrock is super attractive by the way!)

I removed the carpet off of the stairs- the current thought is to sand and paint/stain them!

The sheet rock in the great room has been removed and the framing for the new windows has been completed!

And finally the downstairs bath has been gutted!

Now that everything is taken apart we’re excited to make some progress toward moving in! The next steps will be to plan the new kitchen and master bath layouts 🙂 We really appreciate my mom and my step dad letting us live with them, but I think we’re all in agreement that we should move back in to our own house as soon as possible 🙂

P.S. The door that John and I came to a compromise on (here) has been installed and we both LOVE it! I can’t wait to get it painted! Any idea’s about what color it will be?
