Since our flooring is currently acclimating in the house I thought I’d share a little about how we picked which flooring to use. As a person that struggles with making decisions, choosing the flooring for our house was certainly a difficult one.

We’ve looked at wood tile floor, laminate, engineered hardwood, actual hardwood and vinyl. After lots of consideration we decided to go with laminate for many reasons!

1. Laminate is durable! It will withstand scratching dog claws and future children better than many of our other options.

2. It’s affordable! We found laminate at a fraction of the cost that we would have paid for real wood.

3. It’s forgiving! Our floors are perfectly level which ruled out using something like tile as an option. Since laminate float, we are able to float the laminate over the slightly un-level spots in our floor.

After narrowing our choices to laminate we started looking at color, brand and thickness choices. I fell in love with a picture of a home I found on pinterest that I’ve been using as inspiration for our floors.

I love the light airy look of these floors and decided I wanted to replicate it in ours!

To choose our color I ordered some samples from Floor and Decor and picked some up from our local Lowe’s hardware.

Here were some of our favorites!

We chose in the end to go with a Pergo laminate because it was slightly cheaper than Floor and Decor. It was also important we could pick it up locally and not pay for shipping-not to mention the reviews were great!
